Career Path Programs

The Career Path Programs at St. Mary's Academy engage students in specifically designed courses and real-world applications of careers in Engineering, Visual Arts, Law, Health Care, and Vocations and Service. 

Pathways

Engineering & Design Pathway

  • Courses include Introduction to Engineering Design, AP Computer Science Principles, and Principles of Engineering.
  • Hands-on experience in mechanical design and problem-solving.
  • Instruction in computer programming and digital technology.
  • Prepares students for advanced studies and careers in engineering and technology.

Visual Arts Pathway

  • Integrates Introduction to Engineering Design with traditional arts courses.
  • Offers in-depth studies in Painting and Ceramics.
  • Culminates with AP Art and Design for portfolio development.
  • Equips students with both creative and technical skills in the arts.
  • Provides dedicated on-campus art studio workspace.

Law & Society Pathway

  • Features courses in Intro to Law and Society, Women's and Ethnic Studies, and Forensics. Students will take AP Government as part of core courses Senior year.
  • Provides foundational legal knowledge alongside social justice education.
  • Explores the scientific methods used in legal and criminal investigations.
  • Prepares students for careers in law, policy, and social advocacy.

Health Careers Pathway

  • Includes Principles of Biomedical Science, AP Biology, and Human Body Systems.
  • Focuses on medical concepts, biological systems, and human physiology.
  • Provides a strong foundation in life sciences and healthcare practices.
  • Prepares students for advanced education and careers in the health sector.

Vocations & Service Pathway

  • Includes AP Seminar, Psychology, and Advanced Social Justice courses.
  • Develops skills in research, analysis, and presentation on social issues.
  • Emphasizes understanding of human behavior and social equity.
  • Aims to prepare students for roles in non-profit, educational, and governmental sectors.

  • Program Leadership: Succeed under the supportive care of a teacher who has experience as a trained professional in that field; engage in rigorous coursework with real-life applications and hands-on learning through field trips and our new innovation lab; network and build relationships with leaders and professionals in their respective fields.
